I never meant to end up in Safety Harbor, Florida. I was visiting a friend in Clearwater Beach and had to occupy myself while she went to a baby shower. She suggested driving 15 minutes down the road to the Safety Harbor Day Spa. I had spent the last two days living off of a liquid diet and lounging in a spa all day sounded EXACTLY like how I wanted to waste a lazy Sunday. Which is how I ended up in the cutest town in the Tampa Bay area, Safety Harbor.
The spa at the Safety Harbor Resort deserves mentioning. For $30 I was able to stay in the spa as long as I wanted and use all of their amenities. This meant their steam room, their saunas, their tranquil resting rooms, their pool, hot tubs, lap pool and a bunch of other things I probably didn’t have time to get to were all included in my day pass. If you’re looking for an inexpensive, relaxing activity to do while in Tampa, St. Pete or Clearwater, I CANNOT suggest this enough.

The town itself was nothing like I was expecting. The town is a toast to creativity and an Instagrammers’ dream. The homes are boasting bright colors while sculptures and art installations adorn parks and homes. I wanted to walk from the spa, down Main street, over to a spot that suggested they had the best hot dog. I never made it to the hot dogs because I happily got lost wandering the streets of this small, quiet Floridian town. Enjoy this photo gallery and see why Safety Harbor is a hidden gem nestled along the Tampa Bay area.
I could totally see myself covering a home in bright colors and calling Safety Harbor my home. Would you visit this small, colorful town? Let me know in the comments!
Shhhhh!!! We don’t wanna let the cat out of the bag! We love living in our quaint little Florida-version of Mayberry. 🙂
But glad you enjoyed your visit! Come back any time!

I feel the same way. I visit my friend in Clearwater Beach and we’ve been all over. Madeira Beach, Dunedin, St. Pete, Tampa, and Treasure Island. Safety Harbor felt like a secret that someone finally filled me in on. I can’t wait to go back!

I visited Safety Harbor five years ago and immediately bought a place there. I fell in love with the artsy little community with the cute cottages, beautiful parks, great bike trails, and the hometown feel with the close proximity to Tampa and Clearwater Beach. I enjoy spending my winters there now. I hope too many people dont learn about it as we want to keep it the way it is. 🤭
